Sustainability & Future Competitiveness

Sustainability is not an addition to entrepreneurship; it changes which opportunities are pursued, which resources are valued and how entrepreneurial ecosystems are organised. My work examines how entrepreneurs, universities and support organisations translate knowledge and values into ventures that address economic, social and environmental challenges.

The stream connects sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems, circular economies, the Sustainable Development Goals, university impact and transnational entrepreneurship. I am interested in the mechanisms that allow sustainability-oriented knowledge and values to travel between actors and places—and in the routines, institutions and forms of support that turn those ideas into entrepreneurial action.

A related part of the work looks at social sustainability and responsible governance across borders. Together, these studies ask a common question: how can regions and organisations remain innovative and competitive while strengthening environmental sustainability, inclusion, labour standards and long-term resilience?
